How to read a transit chart

A transit chart compares current planetary positions to the planets in your natal chart. When a planet in the sky today forms a close aspect to a natal planet, that is a transit. The outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) produce the most significant transits because they move slowly enough to stay within orb for weeks or months.

The most important transits are conjunctions, oppositions, and squares from Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto to your natal Sun, Moon, and Ascendant. Jupiter transits tend to bring opportunity and expansion, though the results depend on Jupiter's condition and the natal planet it contacts. Inner planet transits (Mercury, Venus, Mars) are brief and usually minor unless they repeat due to retrograde.
